*New in PisteWeb: “Jokes” page
Hello there!
Piste is again in da zone, bringing you latest news via Internet, the communication medium of the third millennium! As an active subject club, Piste organizes Accenture Excursion, Game Evening and BT-subject evening this spring.
Excursion to Accenture is held on 21.2. just prior to Annual Ball kuntis, to which we will continue with the respected Accenture representatives. There are a (very) few places left, so if you want to participate, please write promptly to piste(ät)kyweb.fi!
In March, we will have a Game Evening with the lovely faculty of the BT-department. It is a chance to walruses, wanna-be-BT-major-students, actual real BT-students and faculty of our beloved department to meet outside the academic environment, play various games, talk and such. More information shortly.
It is notable that the event was suggested by the department, illustrating that the faculty in BT is extremely nice!
By now, the walruses must be wondering about the life of a BT-major. No worries, you can ask about the studies and jobs related to BT. On 8th of May, just one day after the quite interesting operations management final, a BT subject evening will be held. There will be very interesting information about the career you can achieve through BT-studies, and people who work in business life related to BT.
As BT, ISM, logistics, and Management Science and such are quite distant terms for walruses, it is highly recommended for all walruses to learn what they mean before choosing their major subject. Choose the major you are interested in! Find out if you are interested in BT! Know what BT is! Show up on 8.5. to learn more! Write it up in your calendar now!
Naturally, you can find out about BT also by walking to Chydenia, going up to the 5th floor and through the glass door and actually knocking on some door, and saying: “Hello sir/ma’am, I am a walrus and I would like to know more about BT.” As I said, the faculty is very, very, veryvery nice, and they will be happy to explain more about the subject. I promise.
With warmth,

* ICT described and other stuff too: (by Yours Truly; don’t take me as a trustworthy author; However, the term in e.g Wikipedia is not described from a business perspective; you may learn more by choosing BT ^^)
First, there was a term coined as “IT”. As the years passed, the term became less optimal to describe the idea from the communication and business perspectives; usage of computers began to be regarded in businesses not only as an advantage, but as a necessity. Thus, as communication is an integral part of any community and communication specialists are needed throughout the business environment, the “C” was added to “IT”, to form “ICT”. It describes the need for every organization to integrate IT to all communication-related tasks, such as management, marketing and communication itself. You’re reading this (quite advertizing) message via the Internet, aren’t you? The terms like this are learned in Information Systems Management, and should you choose it as your major you will find out that the subject is related to contemporary and future way of doing business more and more increasingly via the Internet. The need for business professionals, not engineers, has been noted for accumulation of funds to company owners. Indeed, BT means business!

Go, Tuomas, go!
And a special thanks for the new Jokes-page, it was the perfect way to have a laugh and relax in the midst of my oh-so-serious thesis writing. When’s the next update?
